Jupiter, FL Boaters Paradise
As South Floridian boaters, the proximity to the Bahamas has been an easy option when looking for a weekend getaway. Quite often discarding treasures in our own state. However, with recent travel limitations & restrictions due to COVID-19, we wanted to provide a series of options that were boater friendly, local & easy to navigate to in the case of incremental weather.
Jupiter, FL, 26.9479° N, 80.0744° W has been one of our preferred destinations in the past years. In addition to being home to some very prominent celebrities in the sports world …Tiger Woods, Venus & Serena Williams, Joe Namath to name a few, it offers boaters with many waterfront dining & entertainment options. It is a boaters paradise.
Greg Morrison, Yachting Experts Palm Beach Yacht Specialist offered us some of his local favorite spots.
Just north in the ICW from the inlet (Jupiter Inlet) you can beach the boat on the bank on the west side before the 707 bridge. With incoming tide the water is extra crystal clear there and it turns into quite the party.
Also during incoming tide snorkeling around the west bridge span of the 707 bridge (locals call it Cato’s Bridge) is amazing with plenty of tropical fish, just beware of boats and to not snorkel inside the bridge spans.
North from Cato’s bridge a little over a mile on the left is the Tequesta Sandbar, at low tide it’s completely exposed and it turns into quite the party. At High tide it’s completely covered but still fun to hang out at. Popularly known as Tequesta Sandbar, it is actually the Loxahatchee River Sandbar.
2-3 miles North is a spot referred to by the locals as Tiger Beach. It gets its name because it is somewhat across from Tiger Woods house. This is a popular place for boaters to beach their boats and hang out. It is also a great protected anchorage spot for those who want to spend the night.
