Eco Fishing Team
EcoFishing Team is a non-profit organization located in Florida, dedicated to promoting marine conservation through awareness and education. The organization was created by a group of individuals, companies and fisherman, who have combined their passion for the ocean and participation in tournament fishing into promoting marine conservation. By participating in select Sport Fishing tournaments Eco Fishing Team effectively promotes awareness of marine conservation and supports the marine industry. Eco Fishing Team currently has partnered with organizations such as The Billfish Foundation and supports the values and goals of the International Game Fish Association.
In addition to creating overall marine conservation awareness, the team also actively pursues current issues such as "Take Marlin off the Menu act of 2010" and other continued efforts to support the long term benefit of the marine industry and global marine conservation. The act fights the current law that prevents US commercial fisherman from catching Marlin to sell in the United States, however it allows foreign long liners to catch marlin outside the United States and sell them into the U.S. This not only hurts the U.S. economy but also has contributed to the depletion of the Marlin stock worldwide, which in some regions has declined by 80%.
